Completed the Mainline Water Tower And also built an Atlas through girder bridge |
Starting work on a small town refinery from the 1930's - geared toward predominately heating oil, propane and gasoline. Drew up the layout for the plant, then cut-down and cleaned up several different sizes of pill bottles to represent the different tanks. Marked and cut panels into the tanks. Next up is to fill-in and smooth the tops, then paint the tanks black. I am also working on the dock and office building. |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Filled, sanded and primed the tanks. Makes it obvious that a 2nd round of filling/sanding is required. Started the Distilling and Cracking Towers, which still need to be filled and sanded. Also started on the office building After priming, any filling/sanding issues become very obvious Next up is round 2 of filling, sanding and priming the tanks and towers, complete the dock and office building. |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Finished the office building, did more work on the dock/storage building (but no pics) Next up complete the dock and storage building. More filling/sanding on the tanks and towers, then a final primer coat |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Finished the loading dock/shed and started work on the coal bins Next up complete the coal bins. Start the heaters. More filling/sanding on the tanks and towers, then a final primer coat |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Finished the coal bins and the furnaces. Next up start adding the details to the various storage tanks |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Added the Desalting tank and the source Oil Tanks, a few figures, and started work on the piping. This view shows a pump unit, a T-section, a valve and then a 90 degree up to the top of the tank. Next up continue work on piping to/from the source oil tanks - then on to the Distilling & Cracking towers |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Did the piping for the main oil tanks. Sorry about the poor photos, it was hard to get the camera in a good angle without blocking the lighting Next up the Distilling & Cracking towers |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Started on the Distillation tower Next up, finish the piping on the Distillation tower & start the Cracking tower |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Added access hatches and more walkways on the Distillation tower Next up, finish the piping on the Distillation tower & start the Cracking tower |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Finally completed the Distillation tower. The catwalks took forever, mostly because my big, clumsy fingers kept breaking off sections I had already completed. Then I realized none of the catwalks had any supports, so I went back and added those Did not notice until I posted this picture that I had knocked over one of the light posts Next up, add the piping to/from the Distillation tower & start the Cracking tower |
Continued work on a small town refinery. Installed piping to/from Distillation tower. Next up, start the Cracking tower |
Took a break from the refinery to work on a Repair-in-Place (RIP) shed for the yard area. Still working on lighting it up, then need to add the roof and detail items |
Continued working on a Repair-in-Place (RIP) shed for the yard area. Got the lights and roof installed. Now on to all the details. |
Completed the Repair-in-Place (RIP) shed for the yard area. Set it in place to see how its going to look. Still need to finish off and scenic the yard area before installing permanently. |
